Symbols can be used multiple times and not all symbols are in the code. You make a guess of five symbols and then it shows you how much of them are correct: red means that a symbol is at its correct place, a striked-through circle means that a symbol is correct, but not in the right place, and a plain circle indicates a symbol that is not in the code.You start with any combination and try to get at least one correct symbol at the correct place (at least one red dot). Then you exchange one of the symbols.

Then the 1 at the start was correct. Either way, you know the symbol in the first place.

Flipping death game. No change in the number of reds? Neither the 1, nor the 6 was correct. Then just try the next combination: 1-6-3-4-5 and see again. Do this until you know which of the symbols is correct. After that, you only need to alter the symbols that you do not know about.

Eventually, you will have only reds.You can additionally make use of the striked-through circles and notice whether a symbol is part of the code or not, but this then gets a bit more complicated and I basically ignored it.
